Marlene Losey

LOSEY, Marlene Gerry, of Gladwin, MI and The Villages, FL, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 8, 2021 at the age of 86. Marlene was born in Hamilton Twp., Michigan on August 12, 1935, the daughter of Emil and Edna (Fisch) Schmidt. Sadly, the love of her life, James Robert Losey, passed away a month earlier on October 7, 2021. Marlene and James met while they were both working at movie theaters in Royal Oak and Berkley, Michigan. They were married in Berkley on June 30, 1956 and spent 65 years together. Marlene grew up in Gladwin, Michigan and later moved to Berkley where she graduated from Berkley High School. She spent time at home with her three children before returning to the workforce as a bookkeeper with the Warren Consolidated Schools, mainly working at Sterling Heights High School. She got her real estate license and phased out of bookkeeping to become a fulltime agent with Real Estate One. Marlene was a lifelong Lutheran. She loved to create, trying her hand at everything she could: ceramics, china painting, new recipes, canning and all sorts of arts and crafts. In retirement she took up golf and became a talented painter. She also loved playing cards, spending time with the family at their Gladwin cottage and wintering in Florida. She is survived by her beloved children Cheryl (Marc) Fontenot of Tallahassee, FL, James (Maureen) Losey of Clarkston and Allan (Carrie) Losey of Goodrich; dearest grandchildren, Garrett (Amanda), Douglas (Olivia), Alyssa, Brandon and Emma, Amy (Timothy), Emily (Patrick), Lauren and Makenzie; great grandchildren Fischer, Beckham, Jason, Oliver, Henry, Tyler, Allison and Ava and several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years James Robert Losey, her parents Emil and Edna, stepfather Joseph DeClercq, daughter-in-law Jeanette Losey, grandson Jason Losey and step-siblings Paul "Duke" DeClercq and Joyce Hohf. A committal service will take place on Wednesday December 1, 2021 at 11:00 am in the Chapel of Roseland Park Cemetery, 29001 Woodward Ave., Berkley, MI 48072.
