Bassel Y. Banny

Bassel Banny, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2023 from complications of Alzheimer's disease at the age of 81.  Born in Iraq, his family moved to England where he received his higher education in Engineering before finally settling in Michigan.  After spending a full career at Ford Motor Company, he left to start Banny Custom Homes, a successful construction company.

Bassel is survived by his wife Lisa Guyot, daughters Sonya (Kevin) Jourdan with their sons Ryan and Brandon and Janel (Bill) Statetzny with their sons Nathan and Alex, and his brother Walid (Kelly) Banny along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Yousef and Bahija Banny and siblings Gabe, Fred, Samira and Gil.

Bassel was a kind and generous person that was blessed with a rich and full life.  He enjoyed fishing, boating and loved to travel.  He was happiest when spending time with family and friends and busy working.

A celebration of life memorial will be held at Lisa and Bassel's home on Thursday, May 11; 4-8 pm.  Cremation services entrusted to Lewis E. Wint & Son Funeral Home, Clarkston. Interment will be at St. Hugo of the Hills columbarium niche, Bloomfield Hills. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association .
