SANDORA, Carla Rae;
of Clarkston, formerly of Hazel Park; passed away peacefully on June 4, 2026, at the age of 81.
Carla was born on September 6, 1944, in Ironton, Ohio, to Charles and Minta Shepherd. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend whose kindness and love touched the lives of many.
Beloved wife of Ron Sandora for 47 years. Loving mother of Lorrie Fiteny. Cherished stepmother of Loretta (Jim) DeLoof and the late Steve Sandora. Proud grandmother of Michael Fiteny, Ally (Weston) Stanford, and Rachel (Johnny) Deeby. Adoring great-grandmother of Mason.
Dear sister of Katherine Shepherd and Robert (Ruth) Shepherd. Preceded in death by her sisters, Ruth Ann Shepherd and Sybil Liddle. Sister-in-law of the late Pete (Ruth Ann) Sandora and the late Dennis (Rosalie) Sandora.
Carla graduated from Hazel Park High School. She enjoyed golfing, bowling, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. One of her favorite places was the family cottage on Otsego Lake in Gaylord, Michigan, where she loved entertaining family and friends, hosting card games, enjoying pontoon rides on the lake, and creating countless memories with those she loved. She also treasured her time in Bonita Springs, Florida, where she developed many cherished friendships over the years. Carla never passed up an opportunity for a trip to the casino and especially enjoyed playing blackjack and slot machines alongside her sister, sharing laughter, stories, and plenty of memorable adventures together.
Carla will be remembered for her warm smile, generous heart, unwavering love for her family, and her ability to make everyone feel welcome. She had a wonderful sense of humor, a caring spirit, and a gift for bringing people together. Whether hosting gatherings at the lake, enjoying time on the golf course, or simply sharing stories with family and friends, Carla's greatest joy was spending time with the people she loved.
She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, neighbors, and the many lives she touched throughout the years.
