Cassie Pantelides

With sadness but also with hope in the resurrection, the family of Cassie Savas Pantelides shares that she peacefully fell asleep in the Lord on August 7, 2026. Cassie was born on a Friday, August 16, 1929, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Abraham and Sophia Savas, nine months after they immigrated to America from Asia Minor. She was a strong Orthodox Christian and continued throughout her life to learn about her Lord, Jesus Christ. Cassie was a devoted wife to her late husband, Pantel Pantelides, and received Holy Communion for the last time on July 30, their 76th wedding anniversary. Both Cassie’s and Pantel’s families emigrated from the village of Semendre, and Cassie was a member of the Semendre Benevolent Society and remained involved with the community in Michigan throughout her life. Cassie enjoyed Bible study and was a member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, where she had served as Philoptochos Treasurer. During Philoptochos baking she was the best baklava and spanakopita cutter, making perfect diamond shapes. For many years she worked as the front-end manager at Alexander’s Restaurant in Clarkston. Cassie loved doing jigsaw puzzles and her favorite time of year was election season, when she loved to work the polls. Cassie was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her brothers Sam and Harry Savas, her sisters-in-law Theodora and Jeanne Savas, and her brother-in-law Kenny Davis. She is survived by her sister Martha Davis, her brother Ernie Savas, her three daughters Constance (Rocky) Sisson, Angela (Joe) Territo, and Sophie (John) Spinelli. She was a wonderful Yiayia to Matthew Territo (Rayna Wiles), Abraham (Diana) Sisson, Gregory (Alexandra) Territo, Sophia (Patrick) Clancy, Anna Cassie Territo (Scott Crumbly), and Angelica Kasiani (Alex) Kuvshinoff. She was proud to be Big Yiayia to Lillian Kasiani, Pantel, Phoebe, Vassilis, Cassandra, Apollo, Vincent, and Baby Kuvshinoff. She was Nouna to Abe (Katie) Savas and Thea to many nieces and nephews. The Funeral Service will take place at St. George in Bloomfield Hills on Monday, August 17, 2026, at 11:00am with visiting beginning at 10:00am at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Cassie’s memory to St. George Bloomfield Hills.
