Cherie Gayle Coleman Godfrey

GODFREY ( COLEMAN), Cherie Gayle; born August 19, 1938 in Martin's Ferry, Ohio to William and Agnes Coleman; of Pontiac formerly of Ann Arbor and Owosso; passed away June 28, 2024 at the age of 85.

Oldest sister of William (Tammy) Coleman, Linda ( Byron Metcalf, Sr.) Rizk and John (Ashley) Coleman; aunt of Marie (Louie), the late Owen, Ronald, Kelly (Bruce) and Joshua; also survived by many great nieces and nephews.

Cherie graduated from West Bloomfield High School in 1956. She attended University of Michigan and earned a bachelor's degree from Eastern Michigan University. Over her career, she used her office administrative skills at the University of Michigan English Dept., Boy Scouts of America and the Financial Aid Dept at Oakland University.  Cherie was an avid reader who especially liked reading the classics and works from author John Grisham. She enjoyed playing Scrabble with her best friends, Jean and Barb, and playing cards/Gin rummy.

In the last few years Cherie read the entire Bible and The Old and New Testament.  She accepted Christ as her savior earlier this year and is now absent from the body and present with the Lord. (II Corinthians 5:8).

Cremation services entrusted to Lewis E. Wint & Son Funeral Home, Clarkston.

Memorials may be made to the MI Humane Society , in honor of Cherie's love for her pets/cats.
