Dale A. Stuart

Dale Alan Stuart, born August 16, 1942, passed peacefully at his home from life to life eternal, in the presence of his savior, Jesus Christ, on August 4, 2026. He was the beloved husband of our beautiful mother, Deborah, for 63 years and the cherished father of each of us daughters: Dawn (Randy) Wyatt, Deanna (the late Kirk) Traver, the late Doreen Stuart and Danette (Christopher) Meny. He was an adored Grandpa and Papa to Joshua (Christina) Wyatt, Hannah (Jeffrey) Sell, Gavin (Katrena) Meny, Marissa Traver, Ian Traver, Andrew (Sydney) Meny and Charlotte Meny. He was also an adoring Great Grandpa and Poppy to Emmet Sell, Lyla Sell, Avery Wyatt, River Meny and Reign Meny. Dad highly valued both his Christian faith and his love for our family. There was never a time that he wasn’t available if ever we needed him. He was a passionate fan of the great game of golf. He caddied at an early age and especially loved playing alongside his dear father, Elanger Stuart. Dad played wherever and whenever he could. He was a great golfer! Living out the ultimate golfer’s dream, he played at the Old Course in Scotland, and his Scottish lineage made it an extra special moment for him. Dad follows into eternity both his father, Elanger, and his dear mother Nina (Barrett) Stuart, as well as his dear sister, Norma Lamar. Dad attended Lawrence Tech, Detroit College of Law and, nearest and dearest to his heart, the University of Michigan. (We were the ultimate house divided, as two of us daughters graduated from THE Michigan State University.) His work life spanned almost his entire life, and he never really wanted to hang up his hat as a professional. One of his early jobs was managing an office supply/gift store that he owned with his parents in Pontiac. He also worked in the personnel department at Pontiac Motors while attending law school at night. Achieving his Juris Doctorate, Dad began his career as an attorney and spent the next many years in that capacity. Many will remember him most recently as both an elected and hired government official. He served as a trustee of Independence Township before becoming Township Supervisor for three terms. He went on to manage several Michigan municipalities including Keego Harbor, Cheboygan, Oakland Township and Ortonville. Dad took each position very seriously and the privilege of each opportunity provided him the ability to serve the people and improve the quality of those communities he was entrusted to lead. In the last several years, Dad was able to live out a lifetime dream of living part of the year in Florida. We’re so grateful that he achieved that dream (and enjoyed the toasty temperatures that he preferred above all others) for the time he and Mom spent there with dear friends. We’re deeply thankful for the many relatives and dear friends who shared their lives with Dad, have gone on to eternity before him, journeyed through losses and triumphs with Dad and have shared with us how very much they will miss his wit, loving nature, candor and intelligence. Dad was the light and laughter of our lives. Through his quiet strength of character, unwavering support and constant love he showed us that we were each very special to him, treasured by him and of incalculable value. Thank you, Dad, for your love and your time, neither of which you ever withheld from us. We will carry you in hearts until we meet again, face to face, in eternity.

A Visitation will be held at Waypoint Church on Saturday the 8th from 10am to 11am. A Funeral Service will take place on Saturday the 8th at 11am at the church. With a Graveside Service at Lakeview Cemetery to immediately follow. Memorial donations may be made towards Blue Heron Headwaters Conservancy or to St. Jude Children’s Research.
