Darlene Kay Mathiak

MATHIAK, Darlene Kay; born November 21, 1952 in Detroit to Raymond & Lucille Mollison; of Ortonville; passed away July 15, 2024 at the age of 71.

Wife of Bruce for 46 years. Mother of Rebecca (Scott) DeBoer, David (Jenifer) Parkinson & Mark Mathiak. Grandma of Ashley (Aaron) Ball, Celeste (Jamison) Crossley, Jacob (Mackenzie) DeBoer, Nick (Brieann) DeBoer, Heidi Parkinson, Clay DeBoer, Mary Mathiak, Travis Arden & Mackenzie Arden.  "Gigi" of Lilyana, LylaKay, LeighAnne, Carter, Kynlee & Oaklynn. Preceded in death by her siblings L. Douglas Hall & Diana Wertz.

Dar retired from Oakland University in 2023 as Office Assistant III in the Physical Therapy Dept. She was the recipient of the Oakland University Employee of the Month, Sharon Wilhelm Award and Physical Therapy Jane Walter Award. In 2023, the Darlene Mathiak Physical Therapy Program Service Award was established in her honor; Dar was the first recipient of this award. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Rochester. She enjoyed flower gardening and trips to Florida. Most of all, Dar loved spending time with her family and spoiling them.

Friends may visit Lewis E. Wint & Son Funeral Home, Clarkston on Thursday, July 18th from 11:00am-1:00pm with a funeral service at 1:00pm.

Private interment Glen Eden Cemetery, Livonia.
