Darrell I. Betts

BETTS, Darrell I.; of Lake Angelus formerly of Holly; born November 29, 1954 to Ivan and Eleanora Betts; passed away on January 27, 2025 at the age of 70;

husband of Carol; father of Chris (Tammy) Betts and Elizabeth (Nick) Thompson; stepfather of Robert (Jennifer) Reid, Jeni (Mike) Aloe and Renee Hogge;  grandpa of Charlotte, Alexis, Dominick (Abrianna), Sebastian, Tommy, Mason, Kora, James, Ryan, Robbie, Mike, Marisa and Allison; great grandpa of Everleigh, Joe and Mickey Ray; oldest brother of Cindy Koss, Brenda (Nick) Filbert and Darwin (Norma) Betts; brother in law of Arnie Sommer; also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Darrell graduated from Holly High School and the police academy. He served at several departments over his lifetime: Holly Police Department, Dade City Police Department, Conservation DNR Detroit Fairgrounds, Lake Angelus Police Department, Orchard Lake Police Department and Oakland County Sheriff's Department.  He earned the rank of Detective Sergeant at Orchard Lake Police Department; after retirement, Darrell continued to serve with Oakland County Sheriff's Department at Friend of the Court.  He enjoyed riding his Harley motorcycle, deer hunting, RV camping and fishing. He will be remembered for being a "grill master" and his joke telling.

Friends may visit Lewis E. Wint & Son Funeral Home, Clarkston on Friday, January 31st from 3:00pm-8:00pm.

Funeral Service Saturday, February 1st at 1:00pm at Lewis E. Wint & Son Funeral Home, Clarkston.

Spring inurnment Lakeview Cemetery, Clarkston.
