David Paul Daily, age 99, a proud U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and beloved member of the Clarkston community, passed away peacefully at his home on July 29th, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on February 27th 1926 in Columbus, Ohio, David Daily was part of the Greatest Generation. He answered the call to serve his country during World War II, enlisting in the United States Navy where he served honorably aboard the USS Anthony participating in key operations that helped shape history. His courage, dedication, and quiet strength remained central to who he was throughout his life. After returning from the war, David Daily married the love of his life, Avril Daley, with whom he shared 65 beautiful years. Together they built a family grounded in love, resilience, and respect. He worked as an Industrial Engineer for Ford Motor Company until his retirement. During his many years of wintering in Florida, he volunteered his time providing tax assistance preparation with the IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program. David was known for his unwavering patriotism, sharp wit, and the deep love he held for his family, especially his children Denise Daily, John (Shaun) Daily, William (Maureen) Daily and Susan (Ray) Martinez. He had great love for grandchildren Elizabeth Martinez, David Martinez (Liz West), Kevin Daily, Emily Daily, and Liam Daily. He is preceded in death by his wife Avril Daily, brother Bob Daily, and daughter Denise Daily.
Friends may visit Lewis E. Wint & Son Funeral Home, Clarkston on Saturday, August 2nd from 3:00pm-7:00pm. Funeral Service will be on Sunday, August 3rd at 2:00pm at the Funeral Home. Interment Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly.
