David C. Moroz

David Moroz, 68, of Davisburg, Michigan died Sunday, July 5, 2026, peacefully at home. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn (nee Blay) and sister, Mary Moroz, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Elizabeth Moroz, and parents, Cass and Florence Moroz. Dave was born April 8, 1958 in Detroit, Michigan. He grew up in Detroit, attending St. Jude Catholic School then Notre Dame High School in Harper Woods.

He loved the outdoors and spending time hiking and watching the freighters on the Great Lakes. Travelling across the country with his wife Carolyn and faithful dog, Karma was his favorite type of vacation. Trips to the ballpark were opportunities to spend time with treasured family and friends.

He received his Bachelor’s Degree from Oakland University, which started a 20+ year career in higher education, which took him to UC Davis in California, then to Eugene, Oregon at the University of Oregon. While there, he fell in love with the Oregon Coast and visited often. He left Oregon to return to Michigan and Oakland University, working with students from all walks of life through his career in advising and housing. HIs work with students left an incredible impression on all who got to know him and many of those young adults continued to stay in touch well after graduation. His work at OU programming for student housing put him in touch with the comedy world, and he decided to leave OU to become a talent agent. He was known to his comics to be generous, kind, with a great sense of humor, which endeared him to the comics and many friendships remained after the business relationships ended. Throughout his work at OU and as a talent agent, he discovered his love for woodworking, beginning by creating handcrafted furniture first for himself, then family and friends. His passion for the creative process and the satisfaction he received when completing a piece led him to his next career as a furniture artist, salvaging barnwood and hand hewn beams to produce an eclectic mix of tables, lamps, cabinets; whatever the wood told him it wanted to become. As his business and his client list grew, so did the joy in his work, and he was happiest in his workshop.

The sports world has lost one of its biggest fans, as Dave loved his Tigers, Lions, Pistons and Red Wings.
