Dennis Paul Brophy, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many, passed away unexpectedly on January 10, 2026, at the age of 77, following an accidental fall. Born on October 4, 1948, in Detroit to Clair and Doris Brophy, Dennis built a life defined by kindness, hard work, and an unwavering devotion to those he loved.
A true man of the people, Dennis had a gift for making everyone feel welcome and valued. Known always for a steady hand, loving heart, and a few wise words to all who knew him, his kindness was matched only by his incredible work ethic—qualities that touched countless lives and earned him the love and respect of his family and friends.
Dennis was the devoted husband of Elaine, his partner in life's greatest adventures. He was the proud father of Joe Brophy (Jill Thompson) and Steve Brophy (Jen), and the adoring Grandpa to Will, Jack, Daniel and Patrick—four grandsons who brought him endless joy.
A 1966 graduate of Lake Orion High School, Dennis excelled as a decorated athlete in his youth with 7 varsity letters and wicked hand-eye coordination. His strong work ethic carried him through a distinguished career at Accurate Gauge, where he retired as Plant and Quality Control Manager, beloved by colleagues drawn to his warmth, dedication, and integrity from the moment they met him.
Dennis loved good music and felt it deeply. He loved spending winters in Naples with Elaine. He was a lifelong golfer, a passionate sports fan and played a mean game of euchre. Above all, he treasured time spent with family, making memories that will be held close by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife Elaine, sons Joe and Steve and their families, his four grandsons, his brother Dave (Judy) Brophy, niece Cristin (Keith) Brophy, and nephew Brennan (Kate) Brophy who will deeply miss his warmth, humor, and generous spirit.
