Douglas Goulait

Douglas A. Goulait, of Waterford, formerly of Royal Oak, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2025, age 77.

He spent his final days surrounded by family and friends, sharing an enormous amount of love.

Doug is preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Mary (nee Pfankuch) Goulait. Survived by his wife Pat and her children, Christopher (Min), Cecilia, and Scott Ritter; grandchildren, Zoe Rose, Maxwell, Reese, and Marin. Older brother to Keith (Donna), Jane (John Koessler), Joan Pardington, and Annette (Daniel Kageff) and many nephews and their children.

After graduation from Western Michigan University, Doug worked at Dondero and Kimball High Schools as a History Teacher, Assistant Principal, Coach, and Counselor, where he developed many lifelong friendships with colleagues and students alike. Doug was an accomplished athlete, high school basketball standout and active softball player for Stroh's Beer during his summer months off. He was a huge fan of sports, especially the Pistons, Lions and Tigers. Doug was most busy during March Madness and could not be without television access for those games. Doug and Pat enjoyed traveling, with a honeymoon to Egypt, and extensive traveling to Europe, Asia and throughout the United States. Doug will be missed and anyone who knew him, will feel the absence of his positive and friendly demeanor.
