Edward Lee Stoner

Edward Lee Stoner went home to the Lord on December 29, 2025, at the age of 75, in his home in Clarkston, Michigan.

Born and raised in Rochester, he often lamented the loss of the farmland of his youth as it was overtaken by "yuppies and McMansions."  In 1979, he built a home in Clarkston, where he lived for the remainder of his life and raised his family.

Family was the center of Edward's life. He was happiest when surrounded by his children and grandchildren, especially during their weekly gatherings.

Edward's life was guided by an unwavering and deeply held Christian faith. He was a longtime member of Faith Baptist Church before later worshipping at The River Church, where he volunteered for many years. He ultimately found his spiritual home at Clarkston Community Church. A devoted student of the Bible, Edward amassed an impressive personal library and possessed an encyclopedic knowledge of scripture. He shared this knowledge generously with others, especially his grandchildren, for whom he prepared a weekly Bible study.

As strong as his faith was, Edward also possessed a fiercely independent and rebellious spirit, tempered by an uncompromising sense of right and wrong. He marched to the beat of his own drum.

Edward also loved rock and roll, and saw many of his favorite bands perform multiple times. The music of the Moody Blues and Gordon Lightfoot, in particular, provided the soundtrack of his life.

An electrician by trade, Edward held a deep allegiance to his Union, another pillar of his life. He took great pride in his work and enjoyed pointing out buildings throughout the Metro Detroit area that he had helped to construct. He was also a gifted craftsman and woodworker. With these skills, he designed and built a cabin near Lake Huron, meticulously selecting and completing every detail with care and intention.

He is survived and deeply mourned by his sister, Debbie Stoner; his children Natalie Stoner and Joel Stoner; his grandchildren, Alexandria, Jacob, Alyssa, and Dirk; and his great-grandsons, Juelz and Monty.

He is preceded in death by his father, Lewis Edward Stoner, and his mother, Madeline Ruth Stoner.

Cremation Services have taken place for Edward. Arrangements entrusted to Lewis E. Wint & Son Funeral Home, Clarkston. In lieu of flowers, Please consider leaving a memory or condolence on Edward's online guestbook below.
