Erlinda A. Tongko of Bloomfield Hills entered eternal rest on May 14, 2026, at the age of 90. Erlinda was born on March 19, 1936, in Alfonso, Cavite, Philippines, to Tito and Leonora Alegre.
Erlinda was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 59 years, Primo, whom she loved fiercely and missed deeply every day since his passing.
She was the loving mother of Corazon (Arnold) Dulay, Antonia Tongko, and Primo (Michelle) Tongko III. Cherished grandmother of Nino, Armand, Miguel, Aiden, Lilliana, Lucas, and Elyse. Dear sister of Aida (David) Davis, the late Jaime (Norma) Alegre, the late Norberto (Anita) Alegre, and the late Danilo (Aurora) Alegre.
Erlinda embodied the warmth, generosity, and devotion so deeply rooted in Filipino family life. She found great joy in cooking and expressed her love through the meals she lovingly prepared and shared with family and friends. Her handwritten recipes will remain treasured keepsakes, carrying on traditions and memories for generations to come. Her home was always welcoming, filled with laughter, delicious food, and the spirit of togetherness that meant so much to her.
She also enjoyed gardening and will be fondly remembered for the beautiful orchids she carefully nurtured with patience and pride. During Erlinda's quiet time, she loved reading and watching tennis on television. She especially enjoyed trips to the casino and treasured the time spent laughing and playing Mahjong, Bingo, and poker with family and friends. Those moments together brought her great joy and created many cherished memories.
Whether celebrating holidays, hosting family gatherings, or simply spending time with family, she cherished being surrounded by those she loved — a true reflection of the Filipino values of close family ties, hospitality, and love for one another.
Erlinda's kindness, quiet strength, and unwavering love for her family touched everyone who knew her. She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever held in our hearts. We love you, Nanay. May you rest in eternal peace.
