BASTUBA, Florine "Flo" Mary Petrone; born June 29, 1941 in Detroit to Michael and Lena Petrone; of Grand Blanc Township formerly of Clarkston and Bad Axe; passed away suddenly on February 2, 2024 at the age of 82; preceded in death by her husband Richard; mother of Darleen Turner, Phillip (Fran) Bastuba, William (Traci) Bastuba and Richard (Susan Bethany) Bastuba; grandma of Brandon (Lisa) Bastuba, Melissa (Brandon) Lamb, Chris (Emily) Michniewicz, Phillip (Olivia Boyd) Bastuba, Nicholas (Heather Hecox) Michniewicz, Anthony (Celena) Bastuba, Lauren (Logan Shepard) Bastuba, Ryan Bastuba, Colin Bastuba and Dominic Todd; also survived by 7 great grandchildren; sister of Geraldine (the late Chuck) McRill and the late Andrew (Dorie) Petrone.
Flo was loved and will be remembered for her loving, spunky and feisty love of life. She was married to the love of her life, Rick for 51 years until his death in 2013. They loved cruising, vacationing, co-owning a jewelry store, entertaining and being surrounded with family and friends. They were devoted to their faith and were avid members of their faith community. Including, St. Daniel in Clarkston and St. Joseph in Bad Axe.
Flo was always bragging about her family and loved spending time with them. She especially loved to cook for everyone and always sent you home with left overs. She was an amazing Italian cook and loved teaching others how to make many of her delicious recipes. Flo loved watching and hearing about the grandkids favorite activities. She traveled around the world to attend tournaments, meets, games and other activities. Not only would she cheer for her grandchildren, she would cheer on all the kids and they considered her an adopted grandma. Flo loved helping at estate sales, playing games, talking about dogs and sharing her faith. She just loved having a good time laughing and being together with those she loved.
Flo was well known as a Keeshond breeder/rescuer and one of the founders of the Great Lakes Keeshond Club of Michigan. She loved her dogs and was passionate about the breed. Many champion dogs came from her line. Rick didn't know what he started when he gave her that first sweet Keeshond puppy. They traveled around the country going to many dog shows together where Rick sold Keeshond jewelry and she would show her dogs.
Flo will be missed deeply! Her sense of humor, shirts with funny phrases, and love she had for everyone will be held close to our hearts. Fly high and watch over us and let us feel your presence. Always loved and never forgotten!
