Gilberto "Gil" Contreras

Contreras, Gilberto, "Gil" age 81 of Burton, formerly of Clarkston, passed away on February 6, 2025, with his family by his side. Gil was born in Fannin, Texas on September 9, 1943, the son of the late Herman and the late Victoria Contreras.

Beloved husband of Dawn for 39 years; loving father of LynEllen Rowan, Michael Kalchert, Christopher (Becky) Kalchert, John (Prea) Gillotte, David (Samantha) Contreras, Brian Contreras, the late Kelly Ann Randal and the late Randy and Adrian Contreras.

Dearest grandfather of 27; and great-grandfather of many.

Dear brother of Linda, Mary Ellen and the late Jay; and uncle too many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Gil worked for GM Truck and Bus as a Journeyman Electrician retiring with 35 years of service. He was a proud veteran of the U S Navy. He married Dawn McLeish in Pontiac on December 21, 1985, and enjoyed many wonderful years together.  Gil loved playing his guitar and harmonica and was an accomplished song writer. Most of all he enjoyed the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Sunday February 16, 2025, at Lewis E. Wint & Son Funeral Home Clarkston. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 4 – 8 PM.

Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association in Gil's name.
