Giuseppe Basirico

BASIRICO, Giuseppe of Orion; passed away on February 27, 2024; age 98.  Loving Husband of the late Giuseppa for 65 years.  Dear father of Concetta (Gary) Hannon, Antonio (Cathy), Salvatore (Karen), and Vito.  Proud grandfather of Shea (Brandon) Smith, Kymberly (Dan) Dutzy, Jessamina, Derek (Rachel) Cytacki, and Stephanie (Quinn) Elliott.  Great grandfather of William, McKayla, Madilynn, Rowan, and Nora.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Giuseppa, son Giovanni, and great grandson, A.J.

Joe will always be remembered for the great love he had for his family.  He immigrated to this country with his wife and became a U.S. Citizen, working numerous jobs as his family grew.  He received his Journeyman Card as a Maintenance Welder from General Motors.  He retired from General Motors and continued his welding and blacksmith trade making wrought iron fences/handrails/tables/furniture….some that are over 50 years old and still standing like brand new.  We often heard "he was the best welder/blacksmith we ever knew".  He will be dearly missed by all that had the pleasure of meeting and knowing him.

The family will receive friends Friday, March 1, 2024 from 11 am until 12:30 pm with a service by Fr. Bob Voiland of Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church at 12:30 pm.

Entombment Ottawa Park Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
