Glenda Raines

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Glenda Raines, who departed this life on September 2nd, 2026, after a courageous and prolonged battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Born on February 1, 1947, Glenda brought warmth, joy, and kindness to all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Glenda found joy in life’s simple pleasures. An avid gardener, she spent quiet hours among her plants and flowers, turning her yard into a sanctuary of warmth and beauty. She also cherished long walks, immersing herself in nature and finding solace in the great outdoors.

Her greatest joy, however, came from her family. She adored her two grandsons, Eric and Will, taking every opportunity to shower them with love, attention, and thoughtful “Happies” that they treasured. The moments they shared, filled with love and happiness will forever live in their hearts.

Glenda loved to travel, creating unforgettable moments while exploring new places with her beloved sister, Penny. Their adventures were filled with laughter, discovery, and the special closeness they shared as sisters.

Glenda also held a special place in her heart for cats, always ready to welcome any in need of a loving home. Her compassion and warmth extended to all creatures, big and small.

Glenda is survived by her son, Chad and her daughter in-law, Erica; her cherished grandsons, Eric and Will; her sisters, Penny, Julie, and Shirley; and her brothers, Bobby and Terry, all of whom will remember her for her boundless love, quiet strength, and the legacy of kindness she leaves behind. She was preceded in death by her parents, Winfred and Helen Burton; her sister, Brenda; and her brothers, Danny and Norman.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the many loving caregivers who brought comfort, kindness, and compassionate support to her in her final years.

A celebration of Glenda’s life will be held at a future date in her hometown of Memphis, Tennessee, where many of her family and friends reside. Glenda will be deeply missed, but her spirit will continue to bloom in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Association of Michigan or Michigan Animal Rescue League.
