Gordon Herman Schoeneweg

SCHOENEWEG, Gordon Herman affectionately known as "Gordy" of Clarkston, MI formerly of Burwell, Nebraska passed away March 10, 2024 at the age of 88. He was born October 19, 1935 in Detroit, Michigan to Herman and Jeanette Schoeneweg and was the loving father of Mark (Lisa) Schoeneweg, Vicki (Gus Gikas) Jackson and Lori (Jason) Tackaberry and Grandpa to Jessica Jackson and Jaxen and Payton Tackaberry. Also, like a grandpa to Chloe Gikas.  He was a wonderful brother to Beverly (James) Gilley, Sharron (late Jerry) Smith and Darryl (Kathy) Schoeneweg and he is survived by many loving nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind a brand new and well-loved grand pup, Mark's golden retriever puppy named "little Gordy," as well as grand pups Bruce Wayne, Brady and Mia.

Gordy was a lifelong learner with many passions and interests throughout his life. He started his career at age 14 in the photography department at Detroit Edison beginning his love of cameras, photography and technology. He joined the U.S. Navy and used his photographic talents while being stationed in Philadelphia. After his military duty, he returned to Detroit Edison and produced many films and videos on alternative energy sources. He retired after 40 loyal years at the age of 54 as the Director of Video Production, Public Relations for Edison. After retirement, he moved out West to the beautiful Sandhills of Nebraska. Gordy loved sports and was an avid University of Michigan fan and also loved the Big Red Cornhuskers. He was a conservationist, who enjoyed organic gardening, composting and beekeeping. He loved going up north to his cabin in Munising, as well as hunting, fishing, boating, reloading, winemaking, breadmaking and breeding dogs. He was a man of strong faith. Most of all, he loved his family and his role as proud dad and grandpa and was loved by the many friends he made throughout his life. As we bid farewell to Gordy, we celebrate a life extraordinarily well lived with many lives touched by all who knew him.
