James T. Bishop

James T. Bishop, born May 5, 1944, in Detroit, Michigan passed away on April 21, 2026 surrounded by the love of his family.

Jim was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Lucy "Cricket" Bishop of 54 years, and a proud father to his daughters, Amy Seaberg (Bishop) husband Shawn Seaberg and preceded in death by Julie Rees (Bishop).  He was blessed with five Grandchildren: Emma and Molly Rees and Cayden, Lauren and Emerson Seaberg along with nieces and nephews.  His family was everything to him.

He was a graduate of Central Michigan University where he was captain of the swim team.  He went on to have a dedicated career with General Motors, where he built lasting friendships and earned the respect of his colleagues.

Jim had a deep love for all things Detroit sports. He was a loyal fan of the Detroit Tigers, Detroit Lions, and Michigan Wolverines, rarely missing a game and always cheering passionately for his teams.

His favorite place in the world was his cottage on Dickinson Island, where he found peace, joy, and countless cherished memories with family and friends. Whether relaxing by the water or enjoying time together, it was where he felt most at home.

Jim will be remembered for his love of family, his steady presence, and his witty sense of humor. He leaves behind a legacy of warmth, loyalty, and countless memories that will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

A celebration of life will follow this summer.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
