BOVENZI, James Peter of Clarkston, MI, born on July 4, 1957, in Rochester, NY, to the late A. Peter and Ann D. Bovenzi; passed away on June 28, 2025, at the age of 67; husband of Jerilyn for 38 years; father of Alyssa (Zachary) VanLiew and Lauren (Brian) Brown; grandpa "apa" of Madelyn and an expected baby boy; brother of Peter Bovenzi; son-in-law of Barbara (the late Edward) Smendec; brother-in-law of DeAnn Smendec, Tamila Smendec, and Sheri Smendec; uncle of Kayli Smendec.
Jim graduated from Alter High School in Kettering, OH, in 1975 and the University of Dayton in 1979 with a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering. He earned his MBA in 1981 from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania as a General Motors fellowship recipient.
He retired in 2020 as Executive Director of Global Supply Chain for General Motors, capping a distinguished career marked by leadership, integrity, and respect from colleagues worldwide. Throughout his professional journey, he and his family lived in Tennessee, Germany, Michigan, China, and Russia.
A lifelong car enthusiast, he found joy not only in the automotive world but also in life at the lake, clay target shooting, and golfing. Above all else, he was a devoted husband and father whose love, care, and dedication to his family were the guiding principles of his life. He will be remembered for his intelligence, hard work, warmth, and unwavering commitment to his family.
Friends may visit Lewis E. Wint & Son Funeral Home, Clarkston, on Wednesday, July 2nd, from 4:00pm to 8:00pm.
Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, July 3rd, at 10:00am at Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church, Waterford, with visiting at the church at 9:30am.
Private family graveside will follow the Funeral Mass.
Memorials may be made to Tunnel to Towers Foundation .
