GRAPPIN, James Francis James Francis Grappin, known as Jim, was born on March 2, 1935, in Pontiac, Michigan, to proud parents Louis and Irene Grappin. On September 3, 2023, at the age of 88, he peacefully passed away at his home in Oxford, Michigan. Jim was a devoted husband to Nora, sharing 69 years of unwavering love and companionship. He was the loving father of Suzanne (Michael) Lesko, Timothy (Laurie) Grappin, and Christine (Adam) Stohlman. His legacy extended to his cherished role as a grandpa to Jaime (Darren) Barnes, Robyn (Theodore) Yamin, Dennis (Jessica) Grappin, Thomas (Emily) Grappin, Manuel (Rebecca) Vallejo, Zachary (Michaela) Stohlman, and Samantha Stohlman. He also delighted in the presence of 13 great-grandchildren. Jim was a beloved brother to Sharon (Donald) Smith, and was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Irene Grappin, his granddaughter, Annie Lesko, and his brother, Marvin Grappin. Jim's love story with Nora began when they met while attending different Catholic High Schools. Their enduring bond led them to unite in marriage on August 7, 1954. Jim embarked on his career at Grappin's Delivery/Moving/Wallcovering & Paint, his father's Pontiac store, in 1950. He dedicated himself to its success until 1984. Simultaneously, Nora operated Nora's Dairy Delight in the same plaza, making it a family affair. Later, Jim worked as an inspector at KAMAX, demonstrating his strong work ethic and commitment. In his leisure time, he found joy in golfing, bowling, hunting, and riding his bike. Jim was an active member of St. James Catholic Church in Houghton Lake and also attended St. Hubert Catholic Church in Higgins Lake. A Memorial Mass in Jim's honor will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Lake Orion on Thursday, September 14, 2023 at 11:00am, with visitation prior at 10:30am. Cremation services have been entrusted to Lewis E. Wint & Son Funeral Home in Clarkston. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association . James Francis Grappin leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, and cherished memories, forever etched in the hearts of his family and friends. May he rest in eternal peace.
