James D. Humphrey

Humphrey, James Doil, August 1930 – December 2024.

Died peacefully at home surrounded by family. He was the oldest boy of Festus and Ruth Humphrey of Dyess, Arkansas. He married Lequetta Joy Thorn in 1950. They had 3 children, Patricia McKee of Metamora, Alleshia Walker of Clarkston and Larry Humphrey of Goodyear, Arizona. He married Virgie Suedell Hill Derryberry in 1993. James was stepdad to Paula, Guy, Murray, Teresa, Alan and Darryl. He was preceded in death by siblings Claudine, Willa Mae, Ruth, Bobby Jean, Dorothy Sue, Audrey and 2 brothers, Carl and Tom. James is survived by brother Emmett Humphrey of Metamora. James was a loving grandfather to 25 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, 29 great great grandchildren and 1 great great great grandchild. He was a business owner and entrepreneur.  James was highly respected and will be dearly missed.

A viewing will be held at Lewis E. Wint and Son Funeral Home, 5929 S. Main Street, Clarkston, MI 48346 on Saturday, January 4, 2025 from 4:00pm-8:00pm.

Burial will be in Santa Fe, Tennessee.
