James "Jim" Leo Bennett

BENNETT, James L. "Jim" of Clarkston, passed away peacefully on Friday March 14, with his family by his side, at the age of 89. Born in Pontiac, Michigan on October 20, 1935, he was the son of the late Francis L. and Alma M. Bennett.

He is the beloved husband of the late Frances A. "Fran" Bennett; loving father of Michael (Frances) Bennett, Cathy (John) Linegar, Patrick (Maureen) Bennett, Sherril (Charles) Johnson, William Bennett and Daniel Bennett; Stepfather of Deborah (Scott) Brizzee, Corena (Zac) Bell and Lewis (Christie) Kojima; dearest grandfather of 23, great grandfather of many and great great grandfather of 1. Dear brother of Richard (Jacquelyn) Bennett and brother-in-law of Donald Miles. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, and extended family. Preceded in death by his parents, his wife Fran and his sister Joan Miles.

Jim was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He married Frances "Fran" Anne Reaves on October 30, 1981, she passed away on September 29, 2023. He worked for General Motors and retired after 35 years of service. Jim enjoyed working in his gardens, bluegrass music, but most of all he loved spending time with his children and his grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at 12 noon at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (5464 Waterford Rd., Clarkston, MI 48346). Family will receive friends at the church from 11:30 AM until the time of the service. Burial with military honors will follow at Ottawa Park Cemetery, Clarkston. If you are unable to attend the service you may watch on the livestream link below.  Jim requests a small bouquet of flowers be sent by family and friends to the service to be later given to Serene Gardens of Hartland, or memorial donations may be considered to St Jude Children's Hospital, Disabled American Veterans or Wounded Warriors.
