James M. Mccollum

McCollum, James Milton; age 70 of Waterford, passed away April 15, 2023 at Crittenton Hospital in Rochester Hills, Michigan. Born June 16, 1952 in Detroit, Michigan. Preceded in death by his wife Mary Jane; beloved father of Kevin; also surviving are his granddaughters: Elizabeth, Erin and Kayleigh; brother of the Late David McCollum; brother in law of Gina Groth and Bob Scott; also survived by many nieces and nephews; preceded in death by his parents, Estel "Bert" and Erna McCollum.

Jim was devoted to his work and took pride as an estimating manager in his field of engineering. He often put in long hours to meet deadlines and exceed customer expectations. At times, clients would even follow him after moving from one company to another. When he wasn't working, Jim enjoyed baking and experimenting in the kitchen; managing his rose garden to have an endless supply of roses to give his wife, swimming and traveling.

When Jim was younger, he would often spend more time in the water with the fish than on land. He achieved his Master Divers Certificate in his late teens and continued to swim as time permitted. Jim was also a history buff, who could often be found at home watching old war documentaries in his favorite chair with a Manhattan in hand. When traveling, he would often adventure to those sites and partake in remembering all those who put their lives on the line.

Friends may visit Lewis E. Wint & Son Funeral Home, Clarkston on Wednesday, April 26 ^th at 11:30am with a Memorial Service at 12:30pm (livestream available). Private interment White Chapel Cemetery, Troy. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or to a charity of your choice.
