James F. Purcell

PURCELL, James Francis;

of Sorrento, Florida formerly of Waterford/Drayton Plains, Michigan;

Born on July 5, 1932 to Francis E. and Willie Maude Barnes Purcell in Leachville, Arkansas;

Passed from this life on October 26, 2024 at the age of 92;

Jim attended the Pilgrim Holiness Church in Rochester for 43 years, still
considering it his home church when he moved to Florida 13 years ago.

He was preceded in death by his wife and lifelong companion of 59 years,
Mildred Ovetta. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in
death by 4 brothers and 9 sisters. He is the father of Troy (Laura) Purcell
and Theresa (Randall) Russell. He is the grandfather of Kimberlee
(Anthony) Wilson, Allan Purcell, Elijah (Kiesha) Purcell, and great
grandfather of Adrian Wilson. However, he called all his grandchildren his
"great" grandchildren. He is also survived by many loving nieces,
nephews, cousins and dear friends that were priceless treasures to him.

Jim served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, re-enlisting for two
tours. He retired from General Motors in 1988. He enjoyed fishing and
gardening and was the "master" of many trades. He will be remembered
for his unfailing love for his Lord and Savior, serving Him faithfully for 70+
years. He was committed to loving acts of service to anyone in need,
whether it be a car that needed fixed, broken water heater, furnace,
electrical or plumbing help.

Friends may visit Lewis E. Wint & Son Funeral Home, Clarkston, on
Saturday, November 9th   at 11:30 a.m. The funeral service will follow at
12:30 p.m.

Interment White Chapel Cemetery, Troy.

Memorials may be made to Samaritan's Purse .
