Janet R. Thomas

THOMAS, Janet R.; 87, of Clarkston; passed away peacefully on February 22, 2026.

Janet was born in Pontiac to Charles and Mary English on February 16, 1939. She was the eldest of her five siblings: Charles (late Christine) English, Cecelia (Robert) Wiar, Patricia (John) Knorp, Wayne (Christine) English and Mark (Karen) English.

She was the wife of the late Michael Thomas for 47 years.

Mother of Gina (Erik) Ohrnberger, Carrie (Brian Snyder) Hartt, Kimberly (Steve) Simmons & Kevin (Shiel) Thomas.

In addition to her siblings and children, she is survived by her grandchildren:  Katherine (Michael Switlicki) Ohrnberger, Elisabeth Ohrnberger, Lauren Hartt, Michael Hartt, Anthony (Diane) Simmons and Kate (Sid) Smith.

Also survived by 2 great granddaughters, Anastasia and Elena.

Janet graduated from St. Michael Catholic School in Pontiac as valedictorian in 1956. She continued her education at the University of Detroit, graduating in 1961. Her career culminated in founding her own accounting firm, Thomas Accounting, for over 35 years.

Janet was a pillar in the Clarkston community. She long championed public education, serving on the Clarkston School Board of Education for 28 years and the Oakland Intermediate School Board for 12 years. She served as a board member of Clarkston's Rotary Club and chapter of the Society of St. Vincent dePaul. She was a long time parishioner of St. Daniel Catholic Church, Clarkston. Janet was a member of Clarkston Community Women's Club and the Metro Detroit Queen's Council for the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed reading and traveling.

Her legacy of faith, charity, and love will live on in every life she touched.

Friends may visit Lewis E. Wint & Son Funeral Home, Clarkston Sunday, March 1st from 3:00pm-9:00pm with a scripture service at 4:30pm.

Funeral Mass Monday, March 2nd at 11:00am at St. Daniel Catholic Church, Clarkston with visiting at church at 10:30am.

Graveside Service Monday 1:30 pm at All Saints Cemetery, Waterford

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Vincent dePaul /St. Daniel chapter .
