Jerry Billings, a beloved husband, devoted father, proud grandfather, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on November 9, 2025, at the age of 86. Born on October 14, 1939, in Hardy, Arkansas, to Joseph and Dovie Billings, Jerry brought joy and dedication to every aspect of his life. He leaves behind a legacy of love, hard work, and cherished memories.
Jerry was preceded in death by his cherished wives, Grace (22 years) and Lisa (14 years), and his beloved sister, Patricia Bauchan. His spirit lives on through his sisters, Peggy Billings Volland and Virginia Swails.
A truly loving father, Jerry will be profoundly missed by his children: Jerri Ann Mansfield, Cynthia (Tim) Billings-Dunn, David Billings, Jesse (Dr. Martha) Boone, Betty (Don) Rhoten, and Lee Ann (Nathan) Bleau. He was a proud grandfather to Misty (Matthew) Loveless, Scott Baird, Sydney Dunn, Charlie Dunn, Edward Dunn, Savannah Dunn, David Billings II, Olivia Billings, Sarah Boone, Jenna Boone, Samantha Rhoten, Autumn Bleau, and Rilie Bleau, and a joyful great-grandfather to Luna Loveless. His greatest joy was found in his family, and he treasured every moment spent with them.
Jerry proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1959 to 1965. Following his military service, he dedicated 34 years of his life to protecting the community as a Detroit firefighter, rising to the esteemed rank of Deputy Chief before his retirement in 1998. His commitment and bravery touched countless lives.
Beyond his professional life, Jerry was a man of many passions. He found immense satisfaction working with his hands, whether he was skillfully remodeling and building homes, meticulously tending to his yard, or simply enjoying the outdoors. He had a special place in his heart for his loyal German Shepherds, Bo, Axel, and Luger, whom he loved to spoil.
