Jessie Griffin

Mr. Jessie Griffin, 72, closed his eyes to take his eternal rest on May 23, 2024. At the time of his transition, Jessie was surrounded by several family members as well as members of the caring staff of Willowbrook Manor Nursing Home in Flint, Michigan. Jessie was born in Lake City, Florida on  April 18, 1952 to loving Mother, Ms. Geneva Griffin & was the youngest of her six children. He was loved and adored as such.

Following high school, Jessie was able to serve in the United States Army. During his time of service, along with becoming a great chef, Jessie was awarded the National Defense Service Medal of which he was so proud. He was also able to serve alongside his lifelong best friend of over 50 years, Mr. Cornell Jones. After his honorable discharge from the Army, Jessie spent time living and loving life in Utah but he eventually settled in Flint, Michigan. Jessie was a dedicated worker at whatever occupation he held but would become loved and adored by most of the North Side of Flint as "Jessie at Sims" He ran the stores for years with just the right mix of "Uncle" and "OG" to make him both loved and respected in the community. He was truly loved by so many people and he will be dearly missed.

Jessie leaves to cherish his memory, children, Jesse Jacar (Mya Nielson), Jessica Griffin, Shanecka Crayton, Renee Crayton, Etoyia Hill, Stephanie Byron, Dominque Keys and Israel Johnson. Grandchildren, Kingston Griffin, Ezekiel "Zeke" Griffin, Ayana Griffin, Bostyn Shelby, Roland Hill, Jr., Daylyn Nettles, Gavin Byron, Elisuha Joe'l Keyes, Jayden Lee Keyes, Adrey Noe'l Keyes and Iszella "Zella" Meeks. Great granddaughter, Ro'Ziya Hill & best friend, Cornell Jones. He also is survived by beloved family including numerous nieces & nephews & extended family spanning from Michigan to Florida. Preceding him in death along with his Mother, are his siblings, Robert Wilson, Fred Wilson, Cornelius Griffin, Lena Mae Fox, Costawilla Mitchell & Maggie Lee Griffin.

Cremation has already taken place per the family's wishes but a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Please consider leaving a memory or condolence on Jessie's online guestbook below.
