John Edward McDonald

McDonald, John Edward age 74 of Clarkston, died August 30, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Jessica, children, Scott (Nicole) McDonald, Sarah (Jayme) Mutter, and Eric McDonald, grandchildren, Ryan, Matthew, & Samantha McDonald, Sydney & Ayden Mutter and Jaxson McDonald, siblings, Ron (Shelley) McDonald, Arlene (Dennis) Manza, Linda (Tim) Hopper, and sister-in-law, Karen McDonald. He will also be missed by many extended family members and friends.

John was preceded in death by his parents, George and Florence, and brothers, Robert (Linda) McDonald and Joe McDonald.

A proud American, John served his country in the United States Army. After his honorable discharge, he began a career in construction and remodeling, where he excelled for more than 50 years. Although he retired three times, he finally declared himself “officially retired” at age 73. A devoted son, John was fondly remembered as “the most beautiful baby.” He was also a loving husband, father, and grandfather who dearly loved his family. John enjoyed going to the casino, doing yardwork, sitting around bonfires, having a beer, helping others with remodeling projects, and, most of all, attending his grandchildren’s events.

Visitation will be Wednesday, September 2,2026, from 3:30 pm to 8:00 pm at the Lewis E. Wint & Son Funeral Home, Clarkston, with the Rosary being prayed at 5:00 pm. On Thursday, September 3, 2026, visitation will begin at 10:30 am with Funeral Mass beginning at 11:00 am at St. Daniel Catholic Church, Clarkston.
