Katherine Jean Root

ROOT (nee Umscheid), Katherine Jean; of Kalkaska; passed away on March 10, 2023; age 72;

preceded in death by her husband Larry;

mother of Vicki (Mike) Rose and Richard (Tracy) Root; grandma of Andrew Michael Willis, Matthew Austin Willis, Kaylinn Jean Root, Ashaya Ranae Cornell, Elisa Rose Root, Ember Rayn Root, Alivia Marie Cornell, Ashlynn Esmae Thomas; sister of Carol Ostrander, Mike Umscheid, Raymond Umscheid, Ed Umscheid, Theresa Schroeder, Steve Umscheid and the late John Umscheid; many nieces and nephews; preceded in death by her parents Robert John and Betty Lou Umscheid.

Kathy was a manager at the Shell Gas Station, Kalkaska for many years and managed the Shell Gas Station at Walton/Adams in Rochester.  She enjoyed visiting casinos, painting ceramics and watching NASCAR. She loved cruising to Alaska with her family.

Cremation services entrusted to Lewis E. Wint & Son Funeral Home, Clarkston.  There will be a Celebration of Life on Sunday, March 26, 2023 at Overtyme Bar and Grill, 4727 Dixie Highway, Waterford from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm
