Chenoweth, Kathleen Ellen "Kay", of Clarkston, CLU, ChFC, IRA, was born February 4, 1944, to Frank and Eugenia Kopacz in Roseville, Michigan. She passed away peacefully on January 30, 2026, at the age of 81.
In 1965, Kay earned a Bachelor's degree in Education and Speech and Hearing Therapy from Michigan State University. While at MSU, she met the love of her life, Philip "Phil" Maynard Chenoweth, to whom she was married for 57 years.
In the late 1980s, Kay and Phil co-founded The Advisors Group, an independent brokerage affiliated with Ameritas Investment Corp. For more than 30 years, they dedicated themselves to helping individuals and families throughout North Oakland County and across Michigan with thoughtful financial and retirement planning.
Kay found great joy on the water with her family, sailing Lake Huron aboard her 35-foot yacht, Whisper. An accomplished helmswoman and crew member, she raced alongside her husband and daughters in national competitions on Shark catamarans. Above all, Kay will be remembered as someone always ready to lend a helping hand, for her love of her Polish heritage, her caring smile, and her famously warm hugs.
Kay was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Phil, on July 4, 2022. She is survived by her three daughters, Carolin "Keri" Shining-Warner, Audrey Chenoweth-Kelly, and Victoria Chenoweth-Sarda; her grandchildren, Sophia Sarda, Ellie Sarda, Stewart Shining, Gordon Shining, and Benjamin Kelly; and her nieces and nephews, Rachel Chenoweth, Austin Chenoweth, Dylan Chenoweth, Robert Esler, Jill Esler, Jeanne Hunton, and Larry LaCharity.
