Kelly Barens

With heavy hearts, we announce the unexpected passing of Kelly Barens of Davisburg, who left us on August 7, 2026, at the age of 63. Born on November 29, 1962, in Detroit, to her parents, Warren & Shirley Mason, who preceded her in death. Kelly was a cherished wife to Mark Frentner, a loving mother to Jason Barens, and a devoted grandma to Owen Barens, whose presence filled her with immense pride and joy. She was a beloved sister to Christine Scott (the late Paul), Sandy Mason, and Steven Mason, and will be fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews, as well as her many close dear friends.

Kelly’s love for her family and friends knew no bounds. She was the heart of every gathering—always ready with a warm smile, an open ear, and a helping hand whenever anyone needed her. She treasured every moment spent with her grandson Owen, who brought her endless pride and happiness. Her deep love of cooking was a gift passed down from her mother, and she delighted in preparing meals that brought everyone to the table.

A graduate of Clarkston High School in 1980, Kelly built a dedicated career as an Administrative Manager at Centroid in Troy, approaching her work with the same steadfast commitment and determination she brought to every part of her life. She worked hard her entire life, facing long-term physical ailments with remarkable strength and an unwavering zest for living.

Kelly found joy in so many simple pleasures: golfing, working out, solving puzzles, tending her flowers and gardens, and more recently painting rocks that she loved to share with others. She cherished the serenity of the ocean and the special times spent traveling to Florida and Up North with the people she held closest.

Friends are invited to visit on Friday, August 14th, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Lewis E. Wint & Son Funeral Home, Clarkston. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 15th, at 1:00 pm at the same location.
