With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved father on September 1, 2023 at the age of 81. A devoted Christian, a faithful Marine, a dedicated pastor, and a passionate missionary, LeRoy's legacy of service and love will forever echo in the hearts of those he touched.
Visitation will be held at the Lewis E. Wint & Son Funeral Home, located at 5929 South Main Street, Clarkston, on Sunday, September 10, 2023, from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm. The funeral will take place Monday, September 11, 2023, at 5 p.m. at Dixie Baptist Church, located at 8585 Dixie Highway, Clarkston, with Pastor Ben Gonzales officiating.
Born on January 22, 1942 in Detroit, MI, LeRoy grew up with a deep sense of duty and commitment. In 1959, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, where he served for six years, demonstrating unwavering dedication and a love for his country. He was a true Patriot!
In 1976, LeRoy found his true purpose when he received the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior. From that moment, he embarked on a journey of faith that would shape the rest of his life. LeRoy was known for his unyielding commitment to Christ, and his enthusiasm for sharing the gospel was infectious! He never missed an opportunity to testify about the transformative power of faith, and countless lives were touched by his words.
In 1985, LeRoy founded Cornerstone Baptist Church in Ortonville, MI, where he faithfully served as pastor for a decade. Under his leadership, the congregation thrived spiritually, and his sermons were a source of inspiration for all who attended. He nurtured the spiritual growth of his congregation with love, compassion, and the unwavering belief in the redemptive power of faith.
Following his pastorate, he was called by God to be a Missionary/Evangelist with the Rock of Ages Prison Ministry for nearly 30 years. He dedicated himself to the ministry, spreading the gospel and offering hope to inmates across the nation. His commitment to this ministry was a testament to his deep-rooted belief in the power of redemption and the infinite grace of God.
One could often spot LeRoy waving his red hanky, which he affectionately called his "Glory Rag," as he shouted "Well Glory!" This signature gesture became a symbol of his joyful and unwavering faith, inspiring everyone who witnessed it.
LeRoy leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and service that will continue to impact the lives of many.
