Lois M. Sanders

SANDERS, Lois M.; of Clarkston, passed away on September 29, 2024, at the age of 88, surrounded by her loving family. She was the cherished mother of Julie(Mark) Lamphier, Gordon (Tammie) Sanders, Matthew (Adina) Sanders, and David(Renee) Sanders. She was a proud nana of 10, great-nana of 8, and sister-in-law to Sue Nelson. Lois was preceded in death by her daughter Barbara Sanders, daughter-in-law Laura Sanders, her parents Gordon and Vera Nelson, her sister Dolores Nelson, her brother Don Nelson, and the father of her children, Gary Sanders.

A graduate of Marygrove College with a degree in physical education, Lois shared her gift of teaching and mentoring throughout her life. As a devoted mother, nana, and great-nana, she was loved by all who knew her and will be deeply missed. Lois served as a prayer warrior for family and friends, and her strong faith and abiding love for Jesus were at the heart of everything she did.

After the death of her daughter Barbara, she began a Forgiveness Ministry, which has impacted and will continue to impact many. In her free time, Lois enjoyed the outdoors, including walking, swimming, kayaking, and camping. She loved all types of dance and was proud to have completed a marathon at the age of 50.

In accordance with Lois's wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, October 11, 2024, at Clarkston Community Church, 6300 Clarkston Road, Clarkston, with visitation at 10:00 AM and the service at 11:00AM. A private burial will take place at Lakeview Cemetery.
