HOLLEY, Lynn Paul; 88, of Clarkston, MI recently of Westminster, SC for 27 years; passed away peacefully while surrounded by family on September 10, 2023. Lynn was predeceased by his wife Sheila Mae Holley; He was the Father of Anne (Mike) Kellogg, Lynn Suzanne (Mark) Pfeiffer,  Mary (Tony) D'Arca; Rand (Patricia) Rodriguez and Tamela (John) Rigg; grandpa of Elizabeth & Johnny Kellogg, Suzanne, Emma, & Lily Pfeiffer, Julia & Tony D'Arca, Brandon Rodriguez, Joshua & Adam Rigg; great grandpa of Mason, Layla, Aurora & Ellery; sister of Judy (George) Dunn; survived by many nieces & nephews.

Lynn grew up in Howell, Michigan, living in a big house which is now part of the Howell Nature Preserve. It is in this beautiful area, he developed his love for adventure, the outdoors and sports.  After high school Lynn served in the Army National Reserve for 6 years. In 1957, he graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a Bachelors of Education and Industrial Arts. While at Eastern Michigan University he was a varsity athlete in football, track and cross county. He went on to teach in the Berkley school system for 37 years teaching Industrial Arts, Woodshop, Drawing, Painting and English. Lynn was also gifted in acrylic-watercolor painting, and photography and enjoyed sharing his knowledge. He also loved coaching and coached football, track, cross country and started the ski team at Berkley for several years.  Friendships were very important to Lynn and in his time teaching at Berkley he met some of his dearest life long friends.

Prior to 1990, Lynn lived in Royal Oak with his wife Jeanne (who passed away in 2015) and his three daughters. He was an active father and instilled in his daughters the love for life, adventure, and sports.

Being a strong athlete and outdoorsman, Lynn competed and participated in many sports including biking across Iowa and Virginia. He was also active in golf, softball, bowling, sailing, running (three Boston Marathons), skiing, curling, and fly fishing.  His active spirit was infectious

After he retired, Lynn married Sheila in 1992 and they moved to Westminster, SC into the golf community at Chickasaw Pointe. They immediately fell in love with the people and the community.  Lynn was known for his outgoing and engaging personality.  He enjoyed his retirement playing golf, running and pickleball. Volunteering and giving back to the community was a passion for Lynn and it continued in South Carolina. Lynn volunteered as an official for the track and field team at his beloved Clemson University.  He also took pride being the Marshall of the Fairway for the Players golf tournament, volunteering at the BMW golf tournaments, picking up trash with Adopt -a -Highway, and ringing the bell at the Salvation Army for several years.  While at  Chickasaw Lynn and his close friends were instrumental in introducing pickleball to the community.  His passion for this sport led him to be a coach, organizer and manager. Now, many in the community can compete and enjoy the sport inspired by the memory of "Coach Holley".

Lynn lived life to the fullest and made lasting memories with all he encountered.

Friends may visit Lewis E. Wint & Son Funeral Home, Clarkston on Friday, September 22nd at 11:30am followed by a Memorial Service at 12:30pm.
