ENGBERG, Merritt E. of Brandon Township; passed away on Octobert 27, 2024; age 88. Beloved husband of Eleanor for 66 years. Loving father of Merritt Engberg Jr., the late Anette Engberg, Jeanette Cole Engberg, William (Teresa) Engberg, Joann (Mike) Abernathy, and Victoria (Eddie) Mazzei. Proud grandfather of Mike (Shiree) Robidou, Tara (Dustin) Hoyt, Brittany (Rob) Skeide, Stephen (Jessica) Engberg, Ryan (Cole) Alexander, Brandon Abernathy, Taylor Cole, Ashley (Jake) Morsehead, Mario Mazzei, and Annette Mazzei. Great Grandfather of many great grandchildren. Dearest brother of Candace (Denny) Ferguson.
Merritt was proud to serve in the United States Army. He retired from the Sheet Metal Workers Local 80. He enjoyed hunting, vacationing, and taking an occasional trip to the casino; but most of all he was a loving and devoted husband, dad, and grandpa. Merritt's strong work ethic and can-do attitude allowed him the ability to mentor his family and those all around him. He simply led by setting good examples.
