ANDERSON, Monica; of White Lake; passed away on October 17, 2023, at the age of 82; she will be reunited with her husband Jim Anderson; mother of Renee (David) Drap and Scott (Joanne) Arneberg; grandmother of Ryan (Julia) Drap, Brandon Drap, Ella Drap, Silvia Drap, Shelby (Tyler) Goodman, Lindsey (Mark) Leyhe, Wendy Arneberg, and Bobby Arneberg; great grandmother to four beautiful girls; sister of Niculin àPorta and Silvio àPorta; preceded in death by her parents Emil and Ursula àPorta.
Monica prided herself on being a hard worker and taking care of others. She came to America from Switzerland in her early 20s as a nanny for the Davidsons. and later the Cudahays. She and her husband Jim owned and operated the Proud Pauper Restaurant and the Fancy That bath shop in Manitowoc, WI. She moved back to Milwaukee and managed the Linens Limited laundry until her retirement. After retirement she took on her best role yet, caring for her granddaughters from the moment they were born supporting Renee and Dave in a busy household full of love and laughs. She once spoke 5 languages, was an excellent chef and baker and was immensely talented: sewing, knitting, crocheting, cross stitch, and needle point. She produced everything from customized bowling shirts, homecoming & prom dresses and even wedding dresses. Her Christmas stockings adorn the mantels for many to this day, hung with care every year.
Her greatest passion was her family and loved ones who span far beyond her family, extended family of in-laws, siblings, nieces, and nephews but also her Church group, neighbors, girlfriends and the friends of her daughter, son-in-law, and grandkids. She cherished them all and they felt it. She was adored by all for her warm heart, loving smile, and hospitable care. Saying she will be missed is an understatement.
A Memorial Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 26th from 11:30am to 1pm. A Memorial Service will begin at 1pm. Please consider leaving a memory or condolence on Monica's online guestbook below.
