Nancy Hopper Muiter

MUITER, Nancy Hopper;  born September 22, 1955 in Menominee to Godfrey and Gail Hopper; passed away on January 24, 2026 at the age of 70.

Nancy leaves a legacy of generosity and devotion. Born in the scenic Upper Peninsula in Menominee, Michigan, Nancy grew up in West Bloomfield alongside her brother, Dave. Her childhood was filled with the crisp air of Colorado ski trips—a place that would remain dear to her throughout her life.

Nancy graduated from the General Motors Institute (now Kettering University) with a degree in Organizational Engineering. She had a successful career at General Motors for many years, often traveling throughout the country as part of her role. She built lasting relationships throughout her careers at General Motors, AT&T, and Kelly Services, where she was known as a supportive colleague and steadfast friend.

Nancy embraced life with energy, curiosity, and a love for good company. Her greatest joy was when she became the mother to her son, Erik. Throughout her life in Michigan, New Jersey, and Colorado, she navigated the demands of her career with a selfless devotion to her family.  To know Nancy was to experience her generosity; she pursued joy in the acts of giving to others.

Nancy's heart also belonged to her Labradors, who were her most faithful companions. She was a familiar, friendly face at local dog parks, finding community among fellow animal lovers.

She is reunited in peace with her parents, and her loyal dogs, Ajax and Copper. She is survived by her son, Erik; her brother, Dave (wife Diana; children Drew, Shelby, Ryan); long time friends, Nancy Ganfi and Stephanie Fehnel, and former husband, Bob.

We imagine Nancy being welcomed not only by her family, but by the enthusiastic wagging tails and sloppy kisses of her beloved dogs.

A Memorial will be held at a later date.

Services entrusted to Lewis E. Wint & Son Funeral Home, Clarkston.

Memorials may be made to MI Parkinson's Foundation or Canine Companions Rescue Center.
