Patricia Ann Smith, age 78, of Ortonville, MI, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on August 13th, 2026, passing peacefully surrounded by her loving family.
Born on January 31st, 1948, to Lewis and Irma Cook in Ieager, WV, Patricia lived a life that beautifully reflected the noble character described in Proverbs 31. Her worth was far more than rubies, and her life was a continuous act of devotion, service, and quiet grace.
On December 9th, 1967, she married the love of her life, Darrell Smith. For 58+ years, they walked together building a home rooted in faith and mutual respect. She brought him good and not harm all the days of her life, and her steadfast partnership was his greatest blessing. Darrell fondly called her Trishie throughout their life together.
As a mother, Patricia poured her heart, soul, and endless energy into raising her children: Christopher and Paul. She watched over the ways of her household, taught them to walk in faith, and opened her mouth with wisdom and strength of character. True to scripture, her children and grandchildren rise up and call her blessed, and her husband praises her.
Patricia worked with spirit of tenacity matched by her love for the Lord and family. Whether she was tending to her home, serving in her church, Christian School, and public education or comforting others, strength and dignity were shown. She did not fear for the future but rejoiced with a heart anchored in her Savior.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Pastor Darrell Smith; mother of Paul (Wendy) Smith. Ten beloved grandchildren: Erica, Lewis (Aleeshia), Layla, Christopher, Paul Jr. (Caryn), Nathaniel, Jonathan-Paul, Cole, Nicholas and Tyler; Six great grandchildren: Michael, Lucy, Amiah, Sophie, Kyleigh and Alaina. Sister of Tim (Veronica) Cook, Jim (Tamara) Cook, Gail Cook and many extended family members and friends who will miss her deeply. Preceded in death by her son, Christopher and her parents Lou and Irma Cook.
Friends may visit Lewis E. Wint & Son Funeral Home, Clarkston on Thursday, August 20th from 11:00am-12:30pm, followed by a funeral service at 12:30pm.
Interment Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly Thursday, August 20th at 2:30pm.
“Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing, but a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised. Give her the fruit of her hands and let her own works praise her in the gates.”
