Robert L. “Bob" Adams, 78, of Lansing, Michigan, formerly of both Waterford, Michigan, and Bradenton, Florida, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2026.
Bob was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Susan, and their cherished son, Bobby Verne. He is survived by his loving daughters, Kristy (Kendall) Clay and Kelly (Brendan) Scanlon, his treasured grandchildren, Ken, Bailey, Peyton, MacKenzie, Garrett, and Paige. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Aretta Adams.
Bob was the proud owner and operator of Waterford Lumber Company, where he earned a reputation for honesty, integrity, and exceptional business judgment. Customers and colleagues respected his ability to estimate a project with remarkable precision, but even more so for his willingness to lend a hand whenever someone needed help. His word was his bond, and throughout his life he conducted both business and personal relationships with fairness, kindness, and unwavering character. He was a long-time member of the International Order of Hoo-Hoo (The Fraternal Order of the Forest Products Industry).
Beyond his work, Bob found joy in spending time with family and friends, playing cards, and trying his luck gambling. He had a quick wit, a generous heart, and a gift for making people feel welcome. Whether offering advice, helping someone through a tough time, or quietly giving to those in need.
Bob was deeply loved by his family and blessed with many lifelong friendships. He will be remembered for his generosity, his strength of character, and the countless ways he showed up for the people he cared about. His legacy lives on in the values he instilled, the lives he touched, and the memories shared by all who knew and loved him.
Though our hearts are heavy with his loss, we take comfort in knowing that he is reunited with loved ones. He leaves behind a family who adored him, friends who treasured him, and a lifetime of examples demonstrating what it means to live with integrity, kindness, and grace.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, November 6, 2026, at Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church, Waterford, Michigan. Family and friends are invited to gather one hour prior to the service for visitation and fellowship.
