Ted (Tadeusz) Walter Kobylas passed away unexpectedly on April 15, 2024 at the age of 59.
Ted developed his larger-than-life personality at a young age and lived his life with the throttle wide open. Ted's success was self-made. In his early 20's he started his own residential carpet cleaning business and owned numerous rental properties in north Oakland County. Never one to slow down, he became a licensed builder, eventually growing his passion for construction into his third thriving business. He will be remembered for his extraordinary work ethic, his funny animated stories, his infectious laugh, love for his family, his beloved boxer (GT), and overall zest for life. Ted was the consummate big brother to Kurt and Marie, his two younger siblings. Ted's bond with his sister was special, with whom he spoke to almost everyday.
Ted enjoyed spending time at his lake house in Oxford, relaxing in the Florida Keys, and bonding with his son, Tyler. Ted was in his element when he was working on home projects, working as a contractor, boating, taking long motorcycle rides with friends, and spending time with his beloved family. You knew you were in Ted's inner circle if you were assigned one of his hilarious nicknames. Ted loved hard, worked hard, and played harder. His memory will live on with all who knew and loved him.
Ted is survived by his beloved son, Tyler Kobylas, his first wife, Laura Kobylas, his cherished parents, Theodore Kobylas and Deanna Kobylas, his brother, Kurt Kobylas (Melanie Kobylas), his sister Marie Moore (Jason Moore), his cherished nephews (Keegan Moore, Joseph Kobylas, and godson Connor Kobylas), his niece/goddaughter (Emily Moore), his godfather Uncle Wayne Belback (Christine Belback), Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins. He was preceded in death by his sister, Linee.
A Memorial Visitation will be held for Ted at Lewis E. Wint & Son Funeral Home, Clarkston on Thursday, May 9th from 4pm-8pm. A Memorial Mass will take place on Friday, May 10th at St. Daniel's Catholic Church at 11am. Family and friends may visit any time after 10:30am. Please consider leaving a memory or condolence on Ted's online guestbook below.
