REILEY, Terry Ann; of Clarkston; formerly of Reno, Nevada; passed away on January 11, 2023 at the age of 72. She is preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Irene Reiley, her brother Thomas Clinton Reiley, and her husband of 30 years, Donald Paul Dix.
Terry grew up in Reno, Nevada and attended McKinley Park elementary school, St. Thomas Aquinas junior high and Bishop Manogue High School, graduating in 1968. She went on to the University of Nevada, then the University of California, San Francisco Medical Center, to earn her degree in Physical Therapy. She had a thirty-six-year career in health care, initially managing Physical Therapy departments in Denver and Boston. She lived in many wonderful cities, including Reno, San Francisco, Denver, Wichita, Boston, and Detroit. Her travels and many moves across the country shaped her view of acceptance, diversity, and inclusiveness for all. She also traveled frequently to Italy, to visit her many Italian cousins.
After being recruited to Detroit in 1989, she was an assistant administrator at the Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan (RIM), and eventually Chief Operating Officer. She went back to night school for six years while working full time, to earn her MBA from Wayne State University in 1990. In 2000, she was appointed President of RIM, the first female and first non- physician to hold that title. She is survived by her stepson Andrew Dix, wife Andrea Dix, and four wonderful grandchildren, Annemarie, AJ, Ariana and Rob Dix.
Arrangements entrusted to the Lewis E. Wint & Son Funeral Home, Clarkston, Michigan. A Memorial Service will be held at Saint Thomas Aquinas Cathedral, Reno, Nevada in the near future. As soon as the service details are confirmed, the information will be posted here on the online guestbook.
Terry was humbly generous to several charities which were close to her heart. In lieu of flowers, it is encouraged that donations be made in Terry's honor to one of the following organizations which she supported, just to name a few:
National Wildlife Federation, Rara Avis Society, 11100 Wildlife Center Drive, Reston VA 20190;
