Loving husband of Maxine, father of Heather and husband, Jason Krentler, and their children, Nora and Emmett, father of Walter Whitfield, III, brother of Cristy Folk and husband, Larry Hershbarger, and several beloved extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter, Sr. and Clemmie Whitfield, and brother, Scot Whitfield.
Walt was a tool and die maker for General Motors, retiring with 30 years of service. He could fix anything and was a masterful woodworker. Growing up in the south, he became an avid outdoorsman, working as a professional trapper and spear fisherman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping in northern Michigan, and was very knowledgeable about the outdoors. Walt was a devoted husband, dad, and granddaddy whose family was his pride and joy.
