Carol Suokas

Carol Arlene Suokas, age 85, went to be with the Lord on April 21, 2021. Carol was born on March 14, 1936 to John and Bertha Overhouse in Highland Park, MI. Carol was married to her beloved husband Melvin for 66 years. Carol and Melvin raised their three children in Clawson, where Carol was the secretary of Clawson Middle School for 27 years. She was a caring and loving mother to Mark Suokas, Craig Suokas, and Cheryl (Mark) Neubauer. Proud grandmother to Matthew (Lori) Suokas, Amanda Suokas, and Adam (Madison) Suokas and great-grandmother to Mason, Noah, and Emma Suokas. She will be dearly missed by her siblings Nancy (James) McGrath and Josephine Gray. Carol is preceded in death by her sister Judy Dukes, brother David Overhouse and son Craig Suokas. She was a longtime member of Calvary Lutheran Church. Carol was very proud of her Finnish heritage and loved to spend time with her family in the Upper Peninsula during the summer. Family will receive guests at Calvary Lutheran Church 6805 Bluegrass Drive, Clarkston MI, on Monday, April 26, 2021, at 10:00 am, with a Memorial Service to follow at 11am. A private inurnment at Great Lakes National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Carol can be made to Calvary Lutheran Church or the American Diabetes Association.
