PETTINARO, Frank E. (Pat) of Waterford, MI; passed away on July 4, 2022; age 84. Survived by his wife Nancy Kay and children Karen (Rick) Lanning; Lisa (Myles) Otomo and Tony (Amy) Pettinaro. Proud grandfather of Mackenzie and Morgan Pettinaro and Emily and Evan Lanning. Great-grandfather of seven great-grandchildren and one on the way. Proceeded in death by his parents Emidio and Gladys (Caldwell) Pettinaro of Layland, WV. Brother to Phyllis (James) Reilly, Sandra (Stewart) Redden, Howard (Carol) Pettinaro, Betty (Bill) Genet, Susie Williams and Bobby Pettinaro. Brother-in-law to Carrol Hahn Bell, Gene Hahn and Bob Bell and many loving nieces, nephews and life-long friends. Frank (Pat) was born in Layland, West Virginia in 1938. After high school, he joined the Navy and served aboard the destroyer, the U.S.S. SIGOURNEY, as a Radar Technician. He moved to Michigan in 1960 where he met and married Nancy Kay Wells. He worked at Pontiac Motors as a tool and die maker and tool room supervisor. In 1985, he moved to General Motors' Powertrain Division as a Powertrain Engineer. In 1995, he retired from GM and joined MUBEA Inc. in Florence, KY where he served as human resources manager and supervised building construction. With MUBEA, he traveled to Germany and Switzerland on multiple occasions. He retired in 2004. Outside of family and friends, Frank's greatest joys were cooking, golfing, hunting, fishing, gardening and red wine. His spaghetti sauce was his signature dish, referred to by his nieces and nephews as Uncle Pat's Pasta. He enjoyed escaping the Michigan winters in retirement to South Padre Island, TX, California and Vero Beach, Florida. Every July for the past 26 years, he traveled to Layland, WV for the Pettinaro family reunion. In recent years, he traveled to Italy where his father immigrated from in 1913 to meet his Italian family. These trips were shared by his wife, children, son-in-law, sisters, brother-in-law, grandchildren, and nieces. Seeing the home of his father and meeting his Italian relatives was truly one of the highlights of his life. Friends may visit Lewis E. Wint & Son Funeral Home, Clarkston, MI on Saturday, July 9 from 3:00-5:00 pm. A brief service, including military honors, will begin at 5:00 pm (also at Wint & Son's).
